Ernest our guide wouldn't say much at first about how the government is treating it's people, but over time we would get little bits of information out of him. For the last 30 years it has been mismanaged by the government. Can you imagine our money having expiration dates? Here in Zimbabwe it did, and 12/31/08 was the expiration date.
Zimbabwe was Africa's food basket 30 years ago, today it is Africa's empty basket. How sad for the people, yet how typical for their leaders in this part of the world.
10 years ago the hotel we are staying at was built, so let's hope that 10 years from now everything will have turned around and it will be a thriving spot where visitors will once again want to come and feel safe coming to.
We never felt uneasy but we did feel for the people.
